Yours always

Getting a man is one step but making him yours always, that’s the real deal and it ain’t child’s play. While I was surfing the net, searching for tips to land prince charming, I stumbled upon an article by Robyn Wahlgast; Certified Dating and Relationship Coach. The article highlights on how to make a man commit to you, and I decided to share the knowledge with you ladies, it will help you create and maintain a long- healthy relationship.

Tips to make him yours always and forever

  1. Desire Him

Sex is what you were thinking at the beginning of this post, and of course, it belongs on our list. Sure, men love it when we enjoy heart-pounding, enthusiastic lovemaking. But a big part of that is showing him that he really turns you on and you appreciate him as a man. That’s not something that begins and ends in the bedroom. When you connect strongly with your own femininity, you help him find the joy in his masculinity—he feels accepted as he is, he will be yours always.

  1. Trust Him

One of the greatest gifts we give a man is our vulnerability—the willingness to view and accept him at face value as a “good guy.” If you’re single, assume your date is a gentleman and that he knows how to treat you right. Your attitude of positive expectations will go further than actually telling him what to do. If you’re in a relationship, give him his freedom to do “guy stuff” or just go off and do things without you. (If you truly don’t trust him because he repeatedly disappoints you, he’s not your Mr. Right. Break up and move on.)

  1. Appreciate Him

Make sure he knows you appreciate him for all that he does, for who he is and for the mission he has chosen to embrace. Did I surprise you with the “mission” part? All men are on some kind of quest, even if they don’t broadcast it. It may or may not have to do with his job. Maybe it’s centered around a hobby or interest that you, at first glance, think is unimportant. If you don’t already know, find out what your man’s mission is and make sure you openly appreciate his commitment to it, he will appreciate that and be yours always.

  1. Make Him Feel Like A Winner

Sometimes, the very men who rack up win after win at work end up feeling like losers at home or in their dating lives. You want him to associate you with a feeling of winning—something all men, regardless of personality type, really do crave—for the relationship to progress. Smile and say, “Thank you” in a genuine way when he tries to please you. (When a man loves you, his BIGGEST win comes from pleasing you.)

  1. Respect Him

Respect is the most crucial because it’s central to a man’s self-esteem and well-being. It’s something you have to show, through your actions, for him to view it as sincere. For example, loyalty is an important component of respect. That means never belittling or mocking his views, preferences, abilities, or interests—not in private and certainly not in public. You are a team, and team members have each others’ backs. That doesn’t mean that you agree with everything he says—that wouldn’t be authentic OR realistic—but agree to disagree in a respectful manner.

Be the woman he loves showing off and is proud to have by his side. And if you truly want him to be yours always, treat him like a prince and he will spend eternity with you.

Steve Case, co-founder of AOL and top executive of the Washington D.C.-based investment firm Revolution, knows there is more to the world of startups than what is going on in Silicon Valley, New York City and Boston. AOL co-founder meet New Orleans startups

The “Rise of the Rest” tour will make stops in Richmond, Va., Raleigh-Durham, N.C., Charleston, S.C., and Atlanta before ending its trip Friday in New Orleans.

“We want to shine a spotlight on great entrepreneurs across the country that don’t get as much attention as the entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley and New York City,” Case said.

The tour visited nine cities last year, including Detroit, Pittsburgh, Nashville and St. Louis. AOL co-founder meet New Orleans startups

Case said he chose to end this tour in New Orleans after watching the city’s growth in recent years and hearing about the rising number of startups making a home here.

He said he wants to meet New Orleans startups face-to-face, talk about why they chose to build their business here and learn about what obstacles stand in the way of growth. AOL co-founder meet New Orleans startups

Case expects to hear many stories about the struggle to find and raise capital.

He noted around three-quarters of the venture capital invested in American startups last year went to three states – California, New York and Massachusetts. AOL co-founder meet New Orleans startups

“The other 47 states fought over the other 25 percent,” Case said.

As part of his road trip, Case will invest $100,000 in one New Orleans startup.

Case, who has visited New Orleans before, was aware of the city’s tricentennial year in 2018, which he said appears to be a driving force for many initiatives, including drawing more attention to local entrepreneurs.

He said he is relying on local leaders – including Mayor Mitch Landrieu, entrepreneurs and the Idea Village business incubator – to fill out his picture of the city. AOL co-founder meet New Orleans startups

Case plans to take the stories of local startups back to fellow investors, many of whom are unaware of the growth happening in other cities.

“I want more venture capitalists to get on plane and come see what is happening there,” Case said. AOL co-founder meet New Orleans startups

The meeting four years ago launched her then five-month-old company from its Portland, Ore., base onto the shelves of Whole Foods across the country.

Its imprimatur can open the way not only to Whole Foods’ more than 400 stores, but also to bigger retailers who covet the cachet of brands carried at Whole Foods, entrepreneurs say. Whole foods entrepreneurs

As a result, small companies are willing to do a lot to get into Whole Foods and stay there-from changing recipes and tweaking packaging to selling certain products exclusively through the chain. Whole foods entrepreneurs

Today, the Louisville, Colo., company has multiple products in Whole Foods nationwide, including a bottled iced tea it developed exclusively for the chain. Whole foods entrepreneurs

Whole Foods lists roughly 80 “Unacceptable” ingredients including vanillin, bleached flour, and aspartame that must be removed from products seeking to appear on its shelves. Whole foods entrepreneurs

Cultivating new brands and exclusive products has become even more important to Whole Foods as mainstream retailers have expanded natural-food offerings.

Whole Foods buyer Errol Schweizer said that over the past 12 to 18 months the retailer has offered 250 products that were exclusive for at least some time. Whole foods entrepreneurs

A couple of years ago, Third Street’s Mr. Simmons recalls, he met with a buyer for a big retailer who had photos of his company’s tea at Whole Foods, and demanded those products.

Whole Foods isn’t afraid to throw its weight around when it wants a supplier to create a new product, get a certification or make a design change. Whole foods entrepreneurs

Whole Foods flagged the cursive script on High Road Craft Ice Cream’s packaging when the Marietta, Ga., company was working on a new ice cream for the grocer, BLVD Tasty Ice Cream, a company executive said.

To keep its pipeline full, Whole Foods has provided low-interest loans totaling $15 million to small food makers over the past nine years. Whole foods entrepreneurs

Hain Celestial Group Inc., which had $2.15 billion in revenue last fiscal year, sells more than 800 products under various brands in Whole Foods, its biggest customer. Whole foods entrepreneurs

“Whole Foods doesn’t like it when our products grow up,” he said-adding later that he understands its concerns and meets with its executives regularly to ensure they are working together.

Pro Makeup Tips You’ve Never Heard Before

Makeup Secrets Revealed – Caution: you’re now entering the secret beauty files, a restricted area where the lips are loose and the classified information flows freely.

To share with you the most useful beauty tips, tricks, and secrets possible, we contacted the top makeup artists in our little black book. After separating the wheat from the chaff—or rather, the been-there-done-that from the trying-that-immediately—we present the cream of the crop to you below, organized by cheeks, face, eyes, lips, and brows.

Makeup Secrets Revealed

CHEEKSMakeup Secrets Revealed

Add your favorite blush to the cheeks before you apply foundation for a glow that looks like it’s coming from beneath the skin. A bright, warm pink at the apple is perfect for any complexion.

James Vincent, celebrity makeup artist and director of artistry for Ardency Inn

Apply two shades of blush for the perfect flush of youth. Pink, or anything in the red family should be placed on the apple of the cheek; it will give the effect of blood coming to the surface. Peach, coral, or anything in the orange family should be applied to the highest point of the cheekbone; that gives the effect of heat rising. Finish by bringing a matte bronzer to the skin where sun hits the face (forehead, cheekbone, bridge of nose, and chin).

James Vincent Makeup Secrets Revealed

When you need your blush to stay put for hours on end, layer a gel formula under a powder or bronzer.

Petra Strand creator of Pixi by Petra

Halloween is the perfect time to stock up on some unexpected essentials. Fake blood is the ideal blush shade. Add it to the apple of the cheek for any skin tone—it looks like a natural flush of color coming though the skin.

James Vincent,

Cherry Jell-O makes the perfect bright blush shade. Mix a dash of powder into your favorite moisturizer or balm for a healthy glow.

FACE

Mixing foundation with moisturizer is an easy way to lighten your coverage options if you already have a fuller coverage foundation.Makeup Secrets Revealed

Caitlin Wooters, makeup artist

To make foundation thicker, mix in a touch of loose powder. (Be careful not to add too much or it will cake.)

Cecilia Muench, creative director of Inglot

Starbucks napkins and disposable toilet-seat covers work just as well as blotting papers.

Kerry Cole, style director of Becca Cosmetics

My signature trick is, before completing my look, I always add a light dusting of blush to my crease and around my temples to pull everything together.

Sasha Simler, trainer and makeup artist for Shu Uemura North America

For a luminous skin effect, mix your foundation with a golden or a pearly white eyeshadow. It gives your complexion a radiance beyond compare.

Nicolas Degennes, creative director of Givenchy beauty

If you’re extremely oily and don’t have face primer handy, just apply a little corn starch to your skin before your foundation.

Niki Metz, director of artistry for Jouer

Makeup Secrets Revealed

My mom, the cofounder of Benefit Cosmetics, used to tell [my sister] and me ‘there are no rules when it comes to beauty.’ She always took her favorite lipstick shade at the time and used it all over to create an entire makeup look. I remember growing up watching her put a swipe on both her cheeks, both eyelids, her lips, and blending it in, and it instantly looked like she got a makeover.

Annie Ford Danielson, Benefit global beauty authority

Your complexion products (foundation, concealer, etc.) should match the inside of your arm, not the back of your hand.

Maggie Ford Danielson, Benefit global beauty authority

As a little girl, I would watch my mother apply egg whites to her face (especially around her eyes) about an hour or two before going out to a special event. She would take one egg, separate it, whisk it until it was frothy, and apply the egg white all over her face and leave it on for 20 minutes. After, she would wash it off with lukewarm water and immediately apply her makeup. The egg white tightens the skin and wrinkles to give you a temporary facelift.

Niki Metz, director of artistry for Jouer

Here’s one for the winter: Take an egg yolk and a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, and whip together. Slather all over your face and leave on for 20 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water. This treatment is the most hydrating thing you can do for your skin, and it’ll leave your face with the most beautiful glow you have ever seen!

Niki Metz, director of artistry for Jouer

EYES

Use the handle of a brush to lift the eyelid at the base of the lashes to roll your lashes up and back; this allows you to wiggle the mascara wand against the base of the lashes and pull through any clumps in a clean and precise manner.

Kara Yoshimoto Bua, Chanel celebrity makeup artist

To reduce puffiness, pop eye lotion in the icebox and apply to lids before eye makeup.Makeup Secrets Revealed

Petra Strand, creator of Pixi by Petra

To extend the life of your mascara, add a few drops of saline solution to the tube and swirl the brush around. This will reinvigorate and add moisture to the formula.

Kerry Cole, style director of Becca Cosmetics

Apply mascara before liquid liner to create a guide for the perfect cat-eye flick.

Sarah Lucero, global director of education and artistry for Stila

My favorite ‘look younger’ makeup tip is to first use a luminizer in the inner corner, then swoop it with a fan brush underneath the eye. This brightens the face.

Deanna Melluso, celebrity makeup artist

LIPS

If you want to find the perfect red for your complexion, try applying one lip color that has the same undertone as your complexion all over the lip: Cool uses cool, warm uses warm. Apply a red with the opposite tone just to the center for a lip that looks full and fantastic.Makeup Secrets Revealed

James Vincent, celebrity makeup artist and director of artistry for Ardency Inn

Dab a color corrector all over lips to neutralize the lip tone and to make the lip color more vibrant.

Petra Strand, creator of Pixi by Petra

Test lipstick on the inside of your fingertip, rather than on the back of your hand. The pad of your finger closely resembles your own lip color, so see which one looks best there, then move to the lips.

Kerry Cole, style director of Becca Cosmetics

Use a flesh-toned eyeliner to outline the lips along the Cupid’s bow. This reduces the chance of feathering and makes lips appear fuller.

Petra Strand

Pull your bottom lip down and look at the inside color. Pick a lipstick shade that’s either lighter or a bit deeper but along the same tone as the inside of your lip. Oh, and don’t do this in public.

Maggie Ford Danielson, Benefit global beauty authority”

Apply concealer to the outer corners of your lips to give your lips a lift.

Niki Metz, director of artistry for Jouer

BROWS

No. 2 pencils are the perfect graphite shade to sketch in natural eyebrow hairs. Sharpen one to a point and draw in lightly for a finished brow.

James Vincent, celebrity makeup artist and director of artistry for Ardency Inn

Gold powder pigment is a great way to lengthen lashes or brows. Use a clean spoolie brush, toothbrush, or mascara wand, and brush a bronze or yellow gold pigment through a mascared lash or brow for a beautiful effect that adds dimension without looking hard.Makeup Secrets Revealed

James Vincent,

Apply a nourishing balm to your eyebrows before going to bed. This will guarantee extra strength and growth—thicker eyebrows in two weeks.

Zenefits Raises $500M

The HR startup announced on Wednesday morning that it raised a blowout $500 million in Series C funding in a round led by Fidelity and TPG. The new investment values Zenefits at a $4.5 billion valuation, hurdling the $1 billion mark to make it one of the top 20 most highly valued venture-backed tech startups in the world. Zenefits raises $500M

The company raised $15 million in its Series A last January, then added $66 million in an June Series B round that valued it at more than $500 million. Zenefits raises $500M

Zenefits offers a cloud-based software-as-a-service human resources platform for small businesses that tries to be an all-in-one solution for compliance, onboarding, payroll, health insurance, and other employee benefits.

The key is that the software is free to businesses; Zenefits makes its money as a broker of services, for example earning a fee from health insurers who register new businesses through Zenefits. Zenefits raises $500M

He tells Forbes that he remains the largest individual shareholder of Zenefits, although declines to cite his exact ownership percentage.

Zenefits CEO

The 34-year-old is now running a company with approximately 1,000 employees. Zenefits raises $500M

Conrad argues the money is well spent on upfront costs, including an explosion of new employees, especially in sales.

He hopes to make up that massive burn rate in the long run, as small business owners begin to rely on the service. Zenefits raises $500M

After reaching an annual recurring revenue figure of $1 million in January 2014, it grew by 20 times, reaching $20 million ARR a year later, and it expects $100 million by the beginning of 2016.

The company says it closed more new business this past March than it did in the first 15 months of the company’s life. Zenefits raises $500M

Conrad wants to reach the 5 million small businesses in the U.S. with fewer than 1,000 employees. Zenefits raises $500M

“It’s a lot easier to approach smaller companies,” says Conrad of this approach.

“Try getting on the phone with a decision-maker at a 1,000-person company. It takes weeks if not months. We can close a lot more 100-person companies more easily.”

Body Language Blunders For You

body language blunders15 Body Language Mistakes you need to avoid to be successful

Body language blunders – Avoiding these body language blunders will help you form stronger relationships, both professionally and personally.

Our bodies have a language of their own, and their words aren’t always kind. Your body language has likely become an integral part of who you are, to the point where you might not even think about it.

If that’s the case, it’s time to start, because you could be sabotaging your career. Body language blunders

TalentSmart has tested more than a million people and found that the upper echelons of top performance are filled with people who are high in emotional intelligence (90 percent of top performers, to be exact). These people know the power that unspoken signals have in communication and they monitor their own body language accordingly.

What follows are the 15 most common body language blunders that people make, and emotionally intelligent people are careful to avoid;

1. Slouching is a sign of disrespect. It communicates that you’re bored and have no desire to be where you are. You would never tell your boss, “I don’t understand why I have to listen to you,” but if you slouch, you don’t have to – your body says it for you, loud and clear.

The brain is hardwired to equate power with the amount of space people take up. Standing up straight with your shoulders back is a power position. It maximizes the amount of space you fill. Slouching, on the other hand, is the result of collapsing your form – it takes up less space and projects less power.

Body language blunders

Maintaining good posture commands respect and promotes engagement from both ends of the conversation.

2. Exaggerated gestures can imply that you’re stretching the truth. Aim for small, controlled gestures to indicate leadership and confidence, and open gestures – like spreading your arms apart or showing the palms of your hands – to communicate that you have nothing to hide.

3. Watching the clock while talking to someone is a clear sign of disrespect, impatience, and inflated ego. It sends the message that you have better things to do than talk to the person you’re with, and that you’re anxious to leave.

Body language blunders

4. Turning yourself away from others, or not leaning into your conversation, portrays you as unengaged, uninterested, uncomfortable, and perhaps even distrustful of the person speaking.

Try leaning in toward the person who is speaking and tilt your head slightly as you listen to that person speak. This shows that he or she has your complete focus and attention.

5. Crossed arms – and crossed legs, to some degree – are physical barriers that suggest you’re not open to what the other person is saying. Even if you’re smiling or engaged in a pleasant conversation, the other person may get a nagging sense that you’re shutting him or her out.

Even if folding your arms feels comfortable, resist the urge to do so if you want people to see you as open-minded and interested in what they have to say. Body language blunders

6. Inconsistency between your words and your facial expression causes people to sense that something isn’t right and they begin to suspect that you’re trying to deceive them, even if they don’t know exactly why or how.

For example, a nervous smile while rejecting an offer during a negotiation won’t help you get what you want; it will just make the other person feel uneasy about working with you because they’ll assume that you’re up to something.

7. Exaggerated nodding signals anxiety about approval. People may perceive your heavy nods as an attempt to show you agree with or understand something that you actually don’t. Body language blunders

8. Fidgeting with or fixing your hair signals that you’re anxious, over-energized, self-conscious, and distracted. People will perceive you as overly concerned with your physical appearance and not concerned enough with your career.

9. Avoiding eye contact makes it look like you have something to hide, and that arouses suspicion. Lack of eye contact can also indicate a lack of confidence and interest, which you never want to communicate in a business setting.

Body language blunders

Looking down as you talk makes it seem like you lack confidence or are self-conscious, causing your words to lose their effect. It’s especially important to keep your eyes level if you’re making complicated or important points.
Sustained eye contact, on the other hand, communicates confidence, leadership, strength, and intelligence. While it is possible to be engaged without direct, constant eye contact, complete negligence will clearly have negative effects on your professional relationships.

10. Eye contact that’s too intense may be perceived as aggressive, or an attempt to dominate. On average, Americans hold eye contact for seven to 10 seconds, longer when we’re listening than when we’re talking. The way we break contact sends a message, too. Glancing down communicates submission, while looking to the side projects confidence.

Body language blunders

11. Rolling your eyes is a fail-proof way to communicate lack of respect. Fortunately, while it may be a habit, it’s voluntary. You can control it, and it’s worth the effort.

12. Scowling or having a generally unhappy expression sends the message that you’re upset by those around you, even if they have nothing to do with your mood. Scowls turn people away, as they feel judged.

Body language blunders

Smiling, however, suggests that you’re open, trustworthy, confident, and friendly. MRI studies have shown that the human brain responds favorably to a person who’s smiling, and this leaves a lasting positive impression.

13. Weak handshakes signal that you lack authority and confidence, while a handshake that is too strong could be perceived as an aggressive attempt at domination, which is just as bad. Adapt your handshake to each person and situation, but make sure it’s always firm. Body language blunders

14. Clenched fists, more like crossed arms and legs, can signal that you’re not open to other people’s points. It can also make you look argumentative and defensive, which will make people nervous about interacting with you.

15. Getting too close. If you stand too close to someone (nearer than one and a half feet), it signals that you have no respect for or understanding of personal space. This will make people very uncomfortable when they’re around you. Body language blunders

In Summary

Avoiding these body language blunders will help you form stronger relationships, both professionally and personally.

Are there any other blunders I should add to this list? Please share your thoughts in the comments below, as I learn just as much from you as you do from me. Body language blunders

Sweat Can Make Your Good Mood Contagious

sweatHow Your Sweat Can Make Your Good Mood Contagious

Sweat Can Make Your Good Mood Contagious – It’s a rare intersection, being both sweaty and in a good mood. Usually the only context where the marriage occurs is at the gym, right after a hard-fought workout. But assuming you can bear the added moisture during other parts of your day, science now says the sweat coming through your pores is making your happiness contagious.

Gün Semin, professor of psychology at Utrecht University, in the Netherlands says,

Olfactory communication – that is, your sense of smell – was likely the first sensory system that evolved. Early humans needed a way to make quick decisions to ensure their survival, so it was in their interest to develop a link between their physiological responses and their brain’s executive commands, such as Run.

Semin told Medical Daily,

Fear sweat induces a state of alertness, and it enhances the visual field that is attended to. Sweat Can Make Your Good Mood Contagious

These forms of communication are collectively known as chemosignals, and they formed the basis of Semin’s latest study into emotional contagions.

sweat

He and his colleagues devised an experiment whose purpose was to find out how well the chemosignals in sweat transferred to other people. They brought in 12 men to their lab, none of whom smoked, took any medications, or suffered from any psychological disorders. The men took off their shirts, wiped down their armpits until they were dry, and sat down to perform two tasks. The first was watching a video that was intended to elicit either a neutral response, a fear response, or a happiness response. Then they completed an assessment of their implicit emotions, based on their feelings toward certain Japanese symbols. At the end of both tasks, the scientists removed the pads and collected the sweat in vials.

Sweat Can Make Your Good Mood Contagious

Next, 36 women visited the lab. (Semin’s team chose an all-female cast because women are generally more sensitive to smells and reading emotion.) Each woman rested her chin on a chin rest and proceeded to sniff vial after vial of sweat, taking five-minute breaks between each one. Meanwhile, Semin and his team were tracking the movement of the women’s facial muscles so that later they could crosscheck the perceived emotion with the emotional state of the man at the time he produced the sweat.

They found striking parallels between how the women reacted and which emotional group the men had belonged to. Women produced the early signs of a genuine smile, such as squinted eyes and raised cheeks, when they smelled the happiness group, while the women who smelled the fear sweat produced more activity in their frontalis muscle, the one that blankets your forehead and permits eyebrow-raising. Sweat Can Make Your Good Mood Contagious

Semin said,

The facial muscles activated in a happy state are distinctly different ones from a fear or neutral state, and we find that when people inhale a happiness odor, then the distinctive facial muscles that are activated during a genuine smile, are activated.

An important detail of the study is that emotions weren’t being consciously perceived. When the researchers asked the women how pleasant and intense each vial was, their answers didn’t line up with the data revealed by their facial muscles. According to Semin, this isn’t entirely surprising. The information our brains attend to isn’t necessarily getting communicated to us explicitly. Often, it’s not. Audio and visual cues, for instance, both have a relationship to implicit emotions that is similar to olfactory communication, “but not an interactive one.”

Sweat Can Make Your Good Mood Contagious

Semin says future research is needed to untangle what is actually doing the heavy lifting in the interplay between odor and emotions. For example, the camaraderie of a 5K race may very well be what’s getting people to cheer each other on, but it could also just be their sweat talking.

Men talk about dating awkwardness

Men talk

Men talk about dating

We discuss a lot about single ladies and we neglect single men. Yeah! Some men are single; I don’t know why people don’t associate men with the single word. Recently, I spoke with few of my male friends that are single; this is what they had to say. “Men talk.”

  • 1. We are really nervous when we ask you out

They talked about how nervous they feel when they ask a woman out. Coming up with a plan isn’t easy, either.

“Sometimes we have a hard time coming up with ideas.”

Women don’t realize how hard it is for men to ask them out. A guy doesn’t know the girl that well, he’s got to plan everything, spend money … look nice, use deodorant … it’s a big deal. “Men talk”

  • 2. We don’t want you to read too much into a first date

If I go on a date, even if I go on a second date, I’m interested in finding out more about you. It doesn’t mean I’m ready to commit. I’ll be clear about when I’m ready.

Women act differently on dates; they act more formal. That mentality changes the whole date and creates awkward moments. “Men talk”

  • 3. We like it when you smile

If they don’t smile, it’s hard to judge how your relationship is. But a smile is like a green light that I can ask you out.

“If they’re open, they’re talking, they’re smiling, and that makes it easier.”

  • 4. We are attracted to women with goals

Women with some kind of passion are worth pursuing.

When a woman actually cares about herself, and cares about others, it’s just so attractive. We listen carefully when women talk about their goals because we want to know that our wife could take care of the children if something happened to them. “Men talk”

  • 5. We would love more cues

Sometimes I wish that a woman I’ve been out with several times would give more cues. Is it a free meal, or is she really interested in me?

Ladies, you heard what men say about dating, it ain’t easy on them and you folks ain’t helping matters either.

Oculus Confirms Gear VR Consumer Launch On Track For Later This Year

The Oculus Rift is heading to consumer hands in Q1 of 2016, but that won’t be the first official consumer VR hardware launch that Oculus takes part in it is indeed still on track to deliver a consumer Gear VR unit in conjunction with Samsung, timed for later this year.

oculus

Oculus CTO John Carmack (John D. Carmack (born August 20, 1970) is an American game programmer and the co-founder of Id Software. Carmack was the lead programmer of the Id video games Commander Keen, Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Quake, Rage and their sequels. Carmack is best known for his innovations in 3D graphics, such as his famous Carmack’s Reverse algorithm for shadow volumes, and is also arocketry enthusiast and the founder and lead engineer of Armadillo Aerospace. In August 2013, Carmack took the position of CTO atOculus VR. ) originally mentioned on stage back in March. He wouldn’t specify which device in particular is receiving the consumer-focused Gear VR, since Samsung clearly doesn’t want any of that spilling out early, but it’s very likely we’ll see it alongside the next Galaxy Note smartphone.

Combined with news that we’ll be able to start pre-ordering Oculus Rift headsets in the later half of this year, Oculus is moving into the consumer market in a strong way across all fronts, which could provide benefits in terms of public awareness and initial content availability from third-party partners.

Oculus and Samsung currently offer Gear VR Innovator Edition headsets for both the Samsung Galaxy S6 (which is launching Thursday) and the Galaxy Note 4, but these are described as devices aimed at developers and early adopter enthusiast customers. Presumably, the forthcoming hardware’s broader consumer focus will mean it brings performance improvements, as well as perhaps changes on the Oculus and Samsung first-party software side of the equation.

SHIT HAPPENS – LOVE IS A SHITTY THING

shit happensWhen Love knocks you down

Shit Happens Love is a shitty thing. Yeah, yeah! He has come again. I don’t care what you think of me right now, I know I may seem to contradict myself a lot but it is how I feel. I have loved, I have lust, I have hated love and I have hated lust but one thing has been constant, I have been a shit-face.

For a couple of years I have thought that I felt the true feeling of loving someone, I have cared and shown absolute affection, always wanting to be around the person, thinking of her all the time but it always stabs me in the hollow of my chest because it is obvious that my heart got tired and moved out.

I stare into space most times and see him (my heart) sitting in a corner, laughing at how miserable I have turned to be. Shit happens, they say but why do we let it happen? Last I checked we are meant to be the rulers of our lives but from recent experiences we are not ruling shit. We are slaves to our emotions and the people we end up growing those shitty feelings for never make it easy for us.

They put a rope around a bone and tie it to their horses while riding in circles; we then turn to dogs and keep chasing. That is exactly how I feel. I hate love… f**k love. It is a silly excuse to be dependent on your emotions and blame your failures on that one person.

All the things I have felt, all the pain, the depression and the frustration boiled down to one thing; shit happens.

People are so selfish that they think they are the only ones that have felt hurt, we all have felt it so we all understand what you feel, and no one is a novice in hurt. So, stop feeling like you are the only one that has that problem, we all do and the wise ones have already gotten used to it and said, Shit Happens.

Finally, it is true that shit happens and love is all but safe, that’s why you shouldn’t act like it’s a bad thing to fall in love with me because you might mess around and find your dreams come true, with me. Spend all your time and your money just to find out that my love was free. So don’t act like it’s a bad thing to fall in love with me.

Independent wives are powerful

Independent wives

Independent wives do not wait on their husbands to provide everything; they make their own money. Earning money does not only make you cash sufficient, but it also boosts your self-confidence, creates security and secures your respect. I am still on the independent lady crusade.

Independent wives

1. Money gives you two things, first and foremost: power and respect.
They say money equals power. Though I believe that more powerful entities exist, I also agree that having a boatload of money can give you more options.

2. Money fosters a creative outlet.
Wives should get involved into their own home-based businesses whilst raising kids and they will discover part-time hobbies can not only bring in money, but also help them express themselves in creative ways. “Independent wives.”

3. Money leads to runaway success.
Who hasn’t heard of those miraculous stories of women simply looking to make a little extra income on the side that turns them into the richest woman?

4. Money gives you freedom.
There is a level of freedom from checking your bank account balances and witnessing the fact that you have enough funds to fill up the gas tank, shop for groceries and buy beauty products without asking your husband for a penny. “Independent wives .”

5. Money instills you with confidence.
With earning your own income comes a measure of confidence that might be lacking otherwise. There’s something special about knowing you have the skills to pay the bills.

6. Money takes codependency out of your marriage.
At least if you’re making enough money to survive on your own but still want to remain married to your husband—that’s a good indication that you’re not just staying with him for his income. “Independent wives .”

Wives should learn that it helps to earn their own keep.
Get your own freedom, wives of the world!

Simon Windazi James

Bowen Island-based artist Simon Windazi James says that for a long time, his Grandfather was the inspiration for everything he did: learning to dance, to sing, to carve, to paint and to man a salmon-fishing boat, for example.

When Simon Windazi James met his wife, she became his inspiration.

When his son came into the world, he became another inspiration, and now his two year-old daughter also inspires his work.

He recalls a story about his Grandfather from the early 1970s, who walked into a gallery in the US to find a host of his people’s artifacts.

“He told the people running the gallery to open up the back door so that he might load them into a truck,” says Simon Windazi James.

Simon Windazi James goes on to tell the story of the appropriation of his peoples art, culture and the theft of their belongings.

“Upon European contact, my people understood what was happening. We hid our treasures in caves,” says Simon Windazi James.

“Years later, we see that those caves were robbed, and our treasures can be found in archives and galleries around the world. We have no access to them. Also, the works found in most of the galleries selling aboriginal art in downtown Vancouver are not made aboriginal people. The art they sell is made by scholars who have learned from books, who have access to artifacts that I don’t have but for me, and for the artists who will be displaying their work at this upcoming show, they all know their history and their culture, they do not need to read it in a book. With this exhibit on Bowen, I want to show that we are not simply an archival people.”

James says that in surveying the artists who he will be displaying their work at the upcoming exhibition, most have not worked with the downtown Vancouver galleries in roughly 5 – 7 years.

To feed his family, James works as a contractor and also for different school boards, but he says he always puts his work as an artist first.

“My father begged me not to do it,” says Simon Windazi James.

James says his role in the creation of the panel, which will take place on May 17 at Cates Hill Chapel, is reflected in the presence of Lou-ann Neel, the creator of the Authentic Indigenous Arts Resurgence Campaign; and Shain Jackson, a former lawyer from the Sechelt Nation who is now working as an artist.

TRUE FRIENDSHIP REALLY EXISTS

true friendshipThe Gift of True Friendship

True Friendship really exists – Sometimes you feel like you’ll be fine on your own because a dream is a wish that you make all alone. It is easy to feel like you don’t need help but it surely is harder to work on your own.

We all need that special someone who knows when we’re lost and scared, someone who’ll be there through the turmoil and pains. We need someone to count on, someone who really cares, and that one person who’ll be beside you wherever you go.

You need to change your heart this day and believe that there is true friendship. Then you will realize that this world only comes to life when everything is right, and this can only happen when you have a friend who stands by your side no matter the situation.

There is nothing greater than that true friendship.true friendship

When your hope is crashing down, when all seems to be coming to an end, when your breath begins to fade away, you just have to open your heart and believe in the gift of true friendship because that’s all that can make you survive.

Your life doesn’t belong to you alone and you can never make it alone. Don’t let your pride drive away that special someone. Take his/her hands today and look into his/her eyes and tell him/her that you cherish the care and love he/she has been bestowing on you and appreciate the fact that you both are friends. Tell the person that he/she is the reason you can feel the sun on your skin and why the air is mild and gentle no matter the circumstance you find yourself in. Let there be an assurance that will keep that person strong in his/her task of making you happy and keeping you safe.

The greatest treasures are not gold nor jewels, nor works of art; they can’t be held in your hands but in your heart. For worldly things will fade away as seasons come and go but the treasure of true friendship will never lose its glow.

EBOLA-FREE LIBERIA AT LAST

ebola-free liberiaLiberia has been declared Ebola-free after days of no cases

Ebola-free Liberia at last – The World Health Organization declared Liberia free of Ebola on the 9th of May, 2015, making it the first of the three hardest-hit West African countries to bring a formal end to the epidemic.

A total of 11,005 people have died from Ebola in Liberia, neighboring Guinea and Sierra Leone since the outbreak began in December 2013, according to the World Health Organization. Ebola-free Liberia at last

Nearly half of those deaths have been in Liberia, where the outbreak peaked between August and October, with hundreds of cases a week, sparking international alarm. The United States sent in hundreds of troops to help build treatment clinics in a country founded by freed U.S. slaves.

Ebola-free Liberia at last

Helped by the visible U.S. military presence, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s government launched a national awareness campaign to stem the infectious disease, which is spread by physical contact with sick people.

MSF said that Liberia’s completion of the WHO’s benchmark for the end of an Ebola epidemic – 42 days without a new case, marking twice the maximum incubation period of the virus – should not lead to complacency.

We can’t take our foot off the gas until all three countries record 42 days with no cases

,said Mariateresa Cacciapuoti, MSF’s head of mission in Liberia. Ebola-free Liberia at last

She urged Liberia to step up cross-border surveillance to prevent Ebola slipping back into the country.

The UN Special Envoy on Ebola, David Nabarro, said this week that Liberian authorities had pledged to maintain heightened surveillance for at least a year after being declared an Ebola-free Liberia on Saturday.

Nabarro suggested that, even though fewer than 20 new cases were reported in Guinea and Sierra Leone last week, it could take months to get to zero.

507 health workers killed by virus (Ebola-free Liberia at last)

International aid organizations were forced to step in as the Ebola outbreak ravaged the region’s poorly equipped and understaffed healthcare systems.

MSF — which was highly critical of the slow response by the UN and western governments — opened the world’s largest Ebola management centre in Monrovia, with a capacity of 400 beds.

According to the WHO, a total of 868 health workers have caught the virus in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone since the start of the outbreak, of which 507 died.

International Medical Corps, a charity that ran two Ebola clinics in Liberia, appealed for international support in rebuilding the healthcare system there in the wake of the virus.

Ebola-free Liberia at last

Now is the time to build on the momentum we have generated to strengthen the Liberian health system … and change attitudes to keep the people of Liberia safe long into the future

,said Anouk Boschma, IMC’s acting country director in Liberia.

The W.H.O. said in a statement read by Dr. Alex Ntale Gasasira, the W.H.O.’s representative to Liberia, in a packed conference room at the emergency command center in Monrovia, the capital,

The outbreak of Ebola virus disease in Liberia is over

Just before Dr. Gasasira’s statement, Luke Bawo, an epidemiologist, showed a map depicting all of Liberia in green with the number 42 superimposed on it. Ebola-free Liberia at last. This represented that two maximum incubation periods of the virus, a total of 42 days, had passed since the safe burial of the last person confirmed to have had Ebola in the country, fulfilling the official criteria for concluding that human-to-human transmission of the virus has ended.

The room, packed with reporters, workers from Doctors Without Borders and other aid agencies and dignitaries, including the American ambassador to Liberia, Deborah R. Malac, burst into applause, according to health officials who were present.

Thank God there is now an Ebola-free Liberia at last.

Uber fundraising value startups at $50 billion

Uber fundraising

The mobile car-hailing application is in early talks to raise a new round of financing that could value the startup at $50 billion, according to a person familiar with the discussions, who spoke anonymously because the process is confidential.

Uber could raise more than $1.5 billion, given the amount of interest from investors in the company, the person said. Uber fundraising

Uber fundraising value startups at $50 billion

The new capital will not be used primarily for expansion purposes, unlike Uber’s previous financing rounds.

Uber, based in San Francisco, has raised money relentlessly in recent years at rapidly swelling valuations. Uber fundraising

The company has raised more than $4 billion as it moves into new markets globally, disrupting established taxi and other transportation industries by letting people request rides through their smartphones.

In December, Uber closed a $1.2 billion round of financing that valued it at $40 billion. Uber fundraising

That round followed one in June, when the service said that it had raised $1.2 billion at a valuation of $17 billion.

At a $50 billion valuation, Uber would be the world’s most valuable private startup, topping the Chinese electronics maker Xiaomi, which was last valued at $45 billion. Uber fundraising

It would also be worth more than publicly traded companies like FedEx, with a market value of $48 billion, and Nissan Motor, with a capitalization of $47 billion.

The divide between Uber and other “Unicorns” – Silicon Valley’s term for billion-dollar startups – would also grow. Uber fundraising

Even at its current $40 billion valuation, it was nearly triple that of other elite Silicon Valley startups like data-analysis firm Palantir, according to the research firm CB Insights.

Among Silicon Valley startups, only Facebook had attained a $50 billion valuation as a private company. Uber fundraising

Uber’s new fundraising discussions come as many Silicon Valley startups have been on a fundraising tear.

This week alone, lending startup Affirm said it had raised $275 million in debt and equity at an undisclosed valuation, while Zenefits, a software-as-a-service startup, said it had raised $500 million at a valuation of $4 billion. Uber fundraising

Why Men Hate sex

This might come to you as a shock but its true, Why Men Hate sex exist, in as much as some ladies might think that all men are sex freaks. Am here to prove that thought WRONG. Below are some of the 20 reasons why men hate sex
