Stephanie Coker
Stephanie Coker is an On-Air-Personality, TV presenter and an actress. The 26 years old presenter was born in Nigeria but relocated to North London with her family when she was a year old. Her father is from Badagry while her mother is from Abeokuta.
Stephanie Coker attended St. Mary’s Church of England Primary School, North London. And that was were she discovered her love for acting and storytelling.
I was a little bit spoilt and very hyperactive. I loved dancing but I was also shy. I went to a drama school and won dancing competitions. Music was a big influence in my life. Drama was also a passion but when it was taking up too much of my time, my parents advised me to drop it and focus on my studies instead.
She also obtained a degree in Mass Communication at Brunel University. Brunel University gave her a platform to experiment on her passion, She interned at production companies in London; MTV, Channel Four and Media Moguls PR. In summer 2010, she worked in New York, as a presenter and news editor at AIT in Nigeria. During one of her internships, a friend advised her to showcase and host an online show were students can showcase their talents, and from there she hosted more university events.
How Stephanie’s Career Boomed
In 2010, Stephanie won the MTV find my Freederm Presenter competition, in which she featured in a television advert that was broadcasted on a number of digital stations. In 2011 she landed a gig on a satellite station called the Community Channel, which was in partnership with BBC.
Stephanie Coker moved to Nigeria in 2011, where she got a job on Cool FM in which she co-anchored the Midday Oasis. She presents the countdown show Street Request for MTV Base Africa. Stephanie Cooker also host a few shows on Ebonylife TV network and she plays the part of Abigail on the hit TV soap, Tinsel.
No thought, her moving back to Nigeria has improved her career, and she acknowledged that in an interview with Punch:
I think Nigeria is very fulfilling and that’s why a lot of people are moving back here. For me, it has always been about the lifestyle. I feel UK is very strenuous and there is a bit too much order. You know what is going to happen next. It is not spontaneous, things don’t just happen, you have to plan. Though it is a good way to live, it can be a bit mundane and very boring.
On March 2015, Stephanie Coker signed a new management deal with J-management, a London-based talent company that also manages Sheyi Shey.
Stephanie Coker is surely a pop culture diva, she is young, fun, brilliant, and bold. She also have a magnetic personality, when I meet her at Mo Search, I wanted us to be instant BFFs.
