Folake Folarin-Coker is a Nigerian fashion designer and creative director of Tiffany Amber.

Her Life

Folake Folarin-Coker was born in Lagos, Nigeria in 1974. After her education in Switzerland and the United Kingdom, She earned a postgraduate degree in Petroleum law and returned to Nigeria to pursue her fashion interests.

Her Career

She is the founder of the world famous brand, ‘Tiffany Amber’. Since the launch of this power fashion house, it has been one leading step to another in creating timeless and exquisite pieces for the everyday woman. When Folake Folarin-Coker dumped her degree in Petroleum Law for fashion design, many thought it was one decision not well thought out. But many years after, she has succeeded in proving her critics wrong, as she has made a name for herself using the platform of her outfit, Tiffany Amber. With her outfit, she has hoisted Nigeria’s flag at fashion events all over the world, and apart from being a famous brand abroad, Tiffany Amber has also enjoyed international success due to her use of the finest fabric to create glam pieces.

Folake Folarin-Coker’s fashion brand, “Tiffany Amber” was launched in Lagos in 1998 and has become an iconic label in the Nigerian fashion industry. The Brand has four stand-alone stores and boutiques in Lagos and Abuja. She has staged several fashion shows in Africa, Europe and the United States. In 2008, she made history as the first African-based fashion designer to stage a show twice at the New York Fashion Week. She was the first recipient of the “Designer of the Year” award at the African fashion week in Johannesburg in 2009 and was also awarded “Fashion Brand of the Year” at the ARISE Magazine Fashion week in 2011. In 2013, she received an Enterprise Award at the 2013 Women, Inspiration and Enterprise (WIE) Symposium and made the Forbes Power women list. She unveiled her ‘Nirvana’ spring/summer collections at DOII Designs launch.

In addition to her main line, Folake Folarin-Coker extended her creative borders by adding two more lines under Tiffany Amber Nigeria: Tan by Tiffany Amber (diffusion line) and Folake Folarin (couture line). Though each line is distinctive, they both represent the designer’s iconic style.
