AY a.k.a. Ayo Makun (Ayodeji Richard Makun), is a multi-award winning Nigerian actor, comedian, radio and T.V presenter, actor, writer, director and MC.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Ayo Makun attended Delta State University, Abraka. He graduated (after spending nine years) in 2003 as the most celebrated Theatre Arts student. AY also won other awards such as the most fashionable student on campus (1999 and 2000); best show-biz promoter (2001); the most celebrated student on campus (2001) and the Jaycee club socio-personality award (2003).

HIS CAREER

Ayo Makun came into spotlight after being Alibaba Akporobome’s personal assistant and event manager. AY also wrote going “AY wire” as a guest columnist in The Sun (Nigeria) and Gbenga Adeyinka’s “laugh mattaz”.

Ayo Makun directs and acts in one of Nigeria’s popular sitcom, AY’s crib with Alex Ekubo, Venita Akpofure, Buchi Franklin and Justice Nuagbe. He also hosts one of Africa’s largest comedy shows, AY live featuring other comedians like Bovi, Helen Paul and many other comedians. AY is also the Chief Executive Officer for Corporate World entertainment, Nigeria. He also owns one of the biggest and most comfortable Club houses in Nigeria. An investor in stand-up comedy, as he has influenced upcoming comedians through his AY “Open Mic Challenge”.

HIS PERSONAL LIFE

AY is the oldest male child from a family of seven. He married Mabel in 2008 and they have one daughter, Michelle.

AY has also starred in two movies; BEING MRS ELLIOT, a 2014 Nigerian romantic comedy film, co-produced and directed by Omoni Oboli where he acted as Ishawuru with Omoni Oboli, Sylvia Oluchi and Majid Michael, and 30 DAYS IN ATLANTA, also a 2014 Nigerian romantic comedy film produced by himself and directed by Robert Peters.

The film was shot on location in Lagos and Atlanta. It premiered on 31st of October 2014. It has been declared the highest grossing film of all time in Nigerian cinemas, he acted as Akpos with Ramsey Noauh, Lynn Whitfield, Karlie Reed, Desmond Elliot and Richard Mofe Damijo. The movie received 10 nominations at the 2014 Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards.
