It was on the 10th of March, 2015 that this so-called JAMB CBT commenced. Its preparation voiced hope and promised improvement to the Nigerian students who write this exam. But it so happened that most centres experienced disappointment. Imagine a situation where you come for a 6am paper and you begin writing by 12noon. That isn’t all; your computer keeps tripping off due to bad power supply. This was exactly what happened on the 11th of March, 2015 at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam-Anambra state.
The centre was over-crowded with Jambites who had exams on that day by 6am, 10am and 1:30pm respectively. Even some candidates who failed to write from the previous day were present. The scenario looked like a refugee camp or an election campaign. By 3pm, the candidates for the 10am exam were asked to line up for entry, boys on one side and girls on the other. The boys were asked to go in first and this agitated the girls. Some minutes after the boys entered the girls began pushing and bent the gate of the AFRIHUB centre. Things were getting spicy. We instantly got a report that there was riot at Port Harcourt because of the same problem. The sun scorched and people started getting more restless.
By 5pm the girls for the 10am exam were checked in. now it was the turn of those for the 1:30pm to get crazy. Nna men! I laugh no be small as I watched the JAMB officials directing the Jambites to stand on a single file and put their hands on their neighbor’s shoulders. Then hold hands together, boys on one side and girls on the other to enable them walk in a single line. It was hilarious as it reminded me of Primary school. As much as what I saw was funny, it was also painful and annoying because I could imagine what the candidates were passing through. As at 9pm the candidates for 1:30pm exam were still yet to enter the hall.
Please this CBT should be put to a stop, at least with paper and pencil JAMB can be written in one day by everyone. You have to also check out this video from that day for better understanding of the painful situation
