According to Wikipedia, a siren is a loud noise-making device. Sirens are used on emergency services vehicles such as ambulances, police cars and fire trucks. There are two general types of siren; pneumatic and electronic.
Government may have standards for vehicle-mounted sirens. For example, in California, sirens are designated Class A or Class B. A Class A siren is loud enough that it be mounted nearly anywhere on a vehicle, while Class B sirens are not loud and must be mounted on a plane parallel to the level roadway and parallel to the direction the vehicle travels when driving in a straight line. It is obvious we use the Class A in Anambra state.
Sirens must be approved by local agencies, in some cases. On October30th 2014, the Federal Road Safety Commission decried the use of siren by security agencies. The Sector Commander affirmed that the law against illegal use of siren was still in force, saying only the offices of the President, the leadership of the National Assembly and Governors, with some designated security and other departments, but “the use of the siren by any other person is illegal.
So, I needed to give you guys a basic understanding of what a siren is and what it is used for.
My people abeg is there anywhere you saw that siren is a type of horn used to alert a vehicle or pedestrian of your approach? I’m sure your answer is NO…capital N…O! Wetin I dey see for Anambra state confuses me.
- Why would a Police vehicle that is not on an emergency mission be blaring its siren anyhow?
- Why would a politician, just because he/she has a small convoy and is coming out for one office or the other keep on disturbing the peace of the people you claim you wanna serve?
- Why would vehicles belonging to vigilante groups or associations have sirens?
- Why would bank vehicles blare sirens on the road like it is the vehicle’s horn?
These things keep me in a state of dilemma, so it is my responsibility as a strong citizen of this nation to air my view on it. It…is…absurd…totally irresponsible and completely unethical. It is called noise pollution and lack of orderliness. There is no order in this state…a state that has young able-bodied men choosing to be touts as an occupation. Gosh! It makes me weep to see great potentials go to waste…abi wetin una think on this matter cos I believe it concerns us all? Reason am.
GOOD MORNING.
