Michael Akindele was born on 29th August, 1984 in Washington D.C. At the age of 2, his family moved to Nigeria and lived in Ibadan for 10 years. At 12 years of age, his family returned to the United States were he continued his highschool at T.C. Williams, Alexandria, Virginia. He obtained a Bachelor of Science Certificate in computer science and information technology in the Volgneau School of Engineering and also received a minor in Business Administration from George Mason`s school of Management. He was an athlete and competed in several running events when he was in school.
After graduation he was employed as a technology consultant in Accenture and also produced a project The Apprentice: Africa which featured Donald Trump. In 2007, Michael returned to Nigeria and was part of a team that developed, produced and distributed the African edition of an 18weeks reality show titled The Apprentice Africa. He also ventured into a 3D animation series O Twins it is a sitcom about a nuclear family living in a commercial city lagos, Nigeria. The production of the O Twins stopped after the pilot was released because the market for content distribution was very shallow and other challenges. In 2010 Fusion mobile was started, but the company was short lived due to lack of adequate funding.
SOLO was set up in june 2013, he partnered with a group of experienced mobile telecommunication professionals led by Tayo Ogundipe, and the company was launched in november 22, 2013.
