Microsoft (MSFT) Leaks Cross Platform Features of Xbox App For Windows 10
Microsoft unveils latest features of the Xbox app for Windows 10, including Avatars, Friends, Game Hubs and Game DVR features
Windows 10 Xbox App – Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has officially revealed the cross platform features of the Xbox app for Windows 10. Previously, the app was said to integrate the two platforms and enable users to seamlessly transfer things such as achievements and customized activity fields, engage with other players, and check their gameplay usage easily on either platform. Microsoft’s announcement confirms that the company is delivering on the integration it promised.

We have already talked about how Microsoft wanted to bring Avatars back to the Xbox and now the company has done just that, allowing complete customization of the visual representation chosen by the users. The Avatars feature is complemented with a store, where items are available that can be purchased to add to the avatars’ personality. Some clothes and accessories are even available for individuals who want to make their avatar look completely unique.
Windows 10 Xbox App – The Xbox app also has a Friends feature that allows users to build their own database of friends online. Users are allowed to make changes as per their convenience, having the option to add, remove, block, and report other gamers using the app alone. Users can also bookmark certain friends as favorites.
The Xbox app that links Microsoft’s latest operating system (OS) to its gaming console also has features such as the Game Hubs and Game DVR, which allow users to review footage from the games they play. Individual achievements can also be viewed, while a shortcut feature allows users to edit the keyboard shortcuts to use them while operating the app. Shortcuts are normally used to capture screenshots and operate as controls while recording something. These also allow users to run cloud-based clips of their games. Windows 10 Xbox App
Microsoft users can also use the “Connect” feature on the updated Xbox app as the Xbox’s power button, using it to remotely turn the console on or off. This feature highlights the streaming option that now links the Xbox One seamlessly to Windows 10 PCs. Given that Microsoft Windows 8 was not a massive success, this is something that should help Windows recover from that fiasco.

Microsoft’s newest OS will not be released until this summer, and the company will start out with a beta release. A number of Windows 10 Builds have already been released, giving developers the chance to test different features on the new OS. Given that the Windows 10 OS will be linked with the Xbox One, it is safe to say that the company hopes purchasing one might encourage consumers to purchase another.
