Let’s take a look at how the Sony Corp.’s Xperia Z4 Tablet fares against Apple Inc.’s iPad Air 2
iPad Air 2 vs Xperia Z4 Tablet – The world of technology has overseen a fairly quick rise in the popularity of tablets amongst consumers. With every manufacturer attempting to produce the powerful and compact devices in the market, Sony Corp.’s (NYSE:SNE) Xperia Z4 Tablet and Apple Inc.’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad Air 2 are found to be thinner than a whole bunch of smartphones in the market, including the iPhone 6 as well.

There aren’t many similarities in the two premium-designed tablets except that both are “super thin” tablets that run on different operating systems, namely Android and iOS. Apple leads the market due to its highly innovative products and strong brand loyalty amongst users. However, Sony has provided enough evidence with its Xperia Z4 tablet to convince customers that it too can compete with Apple’s high-end products.
Design
Both the devices are remarkably 6.1mm thick. We cannot imagine tablets getting any thinner than this. iPad Air 2 vs Xperia Z4 Tablet
Like all Apple tablets, the iPad Air 2 has an aluminum rear body and it is heavier than the Sony Xperia Z4 tablet, which weighs in at 392g; that is more than 40g lighter than the iPad Air 2.
The surprising factor behind the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet being lighter than the iPad Air 2 is because Sony’s tablet features a widescreen display, which the iPad does not, thereby making it longer. It measures at 254 x 167mm whereas the iPad Air 2 is 240 x 169.5mm, giving the Z4 a different feel to users. iPad Air 2 vs Xperia Z4 Tablet
The biggest feature in terms of design for the Z4 is Sony’s ability to waterproof its devices; the rubber seal protection on its connectors has resulted in it receiving IP65 and IP68 certification.
Though the Apple’s iPad Air 2 is not waterproof, it does provide the Touch ID fingerprint scanner, allowing us to lock and unlock the tablet without a great deal of fuss.
Screen
The Sony Xperia Z4 has a 16:10 widescreen as compared to 4:3 iPad Air 2 screen.

The iPad Air 2 similar to the Z4 Tablet, has an IPS LCD display with a 264ppi, somewhat less than the 299ppi the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet offers. In addition to this, Sony has incorporated Triluminos technology, which boosts color performance up to 130%, giving an OLED-like display. This also boosts color saturation through the use of quantum dot tech.

CPU and Power
The Sony Z4 Tablet is powered by the Snapdragon 810 octa-core 2GHz together with 3GB of RAM, such high-end specs seem to indicate it’s more powerful than the A8X tri-core 1.5GHz processor with 2GB of RAM being incorporated in the iPad Air 2. However, benchmarks reveal Apple’s device is more powerful. This must be due to the power-efficient iOS every Apple product runs on.
Both the Sony Xperia Z4 and the iPad Air 2 are powered by high-end chipsets, which support the best visuals in game.

Camera
For users dealing with physical documents, the need for a camera in a tablet could never be more essential, and both the devices fulfill this requirement by packing a rear and a front camera.

Both devices pack an 8 megapixel rear camera whereas Sony takes the cake with a 5.1 megapixel front camera as compared to the 1.2 megapixel in the iPad Air 2. Sony is popular for its cameras and the extensive features.
Battery and Storage
Apple devices aren’t famous for packing big batteries in its smartphones when compared to its competitors, particularly due to its better software and hardware integration. However, the tablet front has always taken an opposite stance and it’s no surprise the iPad Air 2 has a 7340mAh battery as compared to the smaller 6000mAh battery in Sony’s Xperia Z4 Tablet.
Since the Xperia Z4 Tablets haven’t hit the markets yet to conduct a battery test, we expect it to support 10 hours of video playback. iPad Air 2 vs Xperia Z4 Tablet
The Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet has an internal-storage capacity of 32GB along with the option of supporting a SD card, giving users more flexibility in terms of storage. The iPad Air 2 like most Apple products come in three storage-capacity variants of 16, 64 and 128GB.
The Sony Xperia Z4 might have exclusive specs and a lighter premium design. However, we still believe Apple’s ecosystem of tablet applications and the 4:3 screen is more efficient. Bidness Etc is impatiently awaiting the launch of the super-thin tablets before we can actually decide which tablet is the better choice for the users.
