The hope of many startup entrepreneurs is to eventually get backing by a venture capitalist who can seed a business with funding, lead to growth of a small company and eventually end with everyone making more money.
One Spark 2015 has many of the 550 creators taking part in the crowdfunding festival in downtown Jacksonville angling to draw attention from those venture capitalists and they’ve got it.
Several venture capitalist firms were finalizing research and discussions with potential startups they are considering funding Friday in the One Spark offices on East Bay Street as the festival headed through its fourth day with Saturday and Sunday still to come.
Those venture capitalist firms say they have a plethora or high-end startups to choose from at One Spark worthy of investment consideration.
“High quality events like this are a must for us to attend,” said Paul Yancich, a principal in the Arsenal Venture Partner firm from Winter Park.
Jason Premo, chairman of Premo Ventures from Greenville, S.C., said he considers himself an “Angel investor” in that his venture capitalist group gets in on the support of startups early on.
He acknowledged it’s a high-risk venture, but the payoff in landing a startup out of One Spark is hard to ignore.
While there’s a wide range of startups to choose from at One Spark, the venture capitalists are not casting a wide net.
The venture capitalists are part of a group of six different firms who pooled their resources and are offering a combined $3.5 million in potential funding for entrepreneurs at One Spark this year.
While the deal with Premo was still hanging in the balance Friday, Josh Krogh admitted that getting venture capitalists willing to invest in his company brings a bit of additional pressure.
While Premo’s firm is about investing in concepts and startups at the ground-floor level, Yancich said his firm could take months before they commit to an investment.
Yancich acknowledged while startup entrepreneurs are excited about venture capitalist funding, those firms offering seed money are expecting a serious return on their money.
Startups should keep in mind seed money is not a gift or a charitable cause, it’s a capital investment with strings attached.
All the venture capitalists agreed there are no safe bets when it comes to investing in startups.

On April 16, 2013, Jason Derulo released his single, “The Other Side” to radio on April 23, 2013. As of July 4, 2013 “The Other Side” peaked at #18 on the Billboard Hot 100. Derulo announced via Twitter that his third album will be called Tattoos. The album was released on September 24, 2013. The album’s second single, “Talk Dirty”, was released internationally on July 27, 2013 (digitally). “Talk Dirty” has peaked at #3 on the “Billboard” Hot 100.
The album features American hip-hop recording artist 2 Chainz; it is the first single from Derulo to contain a feature.
“Marry Me” made its US radio premiere on On Air with Ryan Seacrest on August 26, 2013. On Wednesday December 11, 2013, he was the headline act for Radio City Live in the Echo Arena, Liverpool. He performed Ridin’ Solo and Talk Dirty.

…Ben called the number and after a couple of weeks he found solace in Chinenye. This girl was who he had always been searching for, or so he thought. She was awesome, nice, smart and pretty as Glory had described, in fact she was more. Do you know the most interesting thing about this story? Ben said that the two of them clicked right away and never spent an hour without talking to each other and had not even met one on one. It was Heaven on Earth, although we all know life has its own regrets.
Yes, Life has its own Regrets! If someone had told Ben that a day would come when he’d regret making that phone call, he’d have poured hot water on that person.
So, he traveled six hours back to the East where he graduated College from because his mom had fallen ill and he also needed to meet this girl. She actually told him to return. Their first date was cool, he found out that Chinenye was actually prettier in person than what he and been seeing in the photographs. It made him so happy. (Another fun fact: Ben isn’t into fair girls but he fell for this one, she doesn’t know though so please don’t tell her if you see her. Thanks, it is between you, Ben and my humble self)
After seeing a couple of times she gave Ben the best gift anyone had ever given him, the opportunity to get a job at the same company she worked at. I’m sure you’d be asking how that is the best gift, well for some reasons Ben had a thing for Computers. He ate, slept, lived and breathed Computers. Life has its own Regrets? F**k regrets; he was having the time of his life.He got the job and apart from being happy that he had gotten a job he was passionate about, he also got the chance to be around the girl he had feelings for. Mind you, they were both single.
They had fun, mad fun; both at home and in the office, made out maybe once or twice, were really cool together. She was actually the first girl that got the approval of Ben’s mother. But!!!…

When am with friends, I feel relaxed, we talk at length about almost everything, we laugh, I bully them and they bully me at times. Few days ago at work, Kay and Chidimma played a scene from Empire, Chidimma was trying so hard to play Cookie perfectly that she tripped. It was hilarious. I laughed so hard that my cheeks started to hurt, at that point I felt happy. I was so happy that I suggested that the three of us should rent a flat and stay together.
After work I went home, for an hour I could recall the events of the day. I still chuckled at the memory of that tremendous fall. The next hour, I felt the urge to share the events of the day with someone, someone other than my colleagues. I wanted to share the crazies that went on at work, to talk about how funny my colleagues can be and how annoying they can be at times. I picked my phone and scrolled down my contact list, I stopped at two contacts but reconsidered calling them. I didn’t feel like calling up a friend, instead I wanted to talk to that special someone that would understand my excitement. But then, I realized that there is no one. My excitement burned off and I felt alone. Yeah, it pains to be a single girl.
Its been 13months, 2weeks and 2days since I have been a single girl and its beginning to take its toil on me. Last night Kachi called, It was his birthday and he asked for a birthday gift from me, the gift he demanded was for me to give him the opportunity to make me happy, to be his girl. And just like always, my brain instantly decoded five reasons why that can’t happen. And honestly, those reasons were crab. Kachi is amazing, we have been friends for close to 3 years, he understands me and he has been a good friend, but I couldn’t agree to his proposal. Why? I can’t say.
I think am becoming too comfortable with my single girl status, It feels so peaceful, less dramatic and I have less responsibilities. Or maybe I have developed a phobia for relationships. Well, that could be it, I have been single more than I have been in relationships. My friend Leonard, nicknamed me The Loney Cat Lady. I can recall the life span of my relationships, my first lasted for a week and 5 days, the second was actually a week and the additional 3 weeks, we just passed time. The third, it was quite long but at some point it began to feel like a jail sentence.
So, you see I might be right when I say I have got phobia for relationships.
2for1, a fledging Russian-Ukrainian startup is one such company that has tailored its project for the U.S. market.
Being part of the rapidly growing discovery commerce sector, 2for1 aggregates the best sale deals of the 15 most visited online stores in the U.S. and Europe.
“Initially, we had an idea to search and present fashion products with discounted prices to customers in Russia and Ukraine since many Russians and Ukrainians purchase clothes from the U.S.,” said Alexey Romanenko, founder of 2for1.
“But then we saw that most of our users that had downloaded the app were from the U.S. They spent a lot of time surfing for deals and moving to the stores’ web sites that offered the biggest discounts,” Romanenko said, adding that 2for1 app has been downloaded 5,000 times over the last three months.
The U.S. apparel market totals $250 billion and it’s the second largest apparel market after the European Union.
Russia is currently the seventh-largest market at $4 billion, but it continues to shrink in the aftermath of the economic downturn.
On the one hand, discovery commerce startups have more prospects in the U.S. where the apparel market is more developed than in Russia.
Oleg Tinkov, one of Russia’s most provocative businessmen with a commercial empire ranging from frozen dumplings to retail banking, is pessimistic about the prospects for young Russian entrepreneurs abroad. In his recent interview with Russia’s “Secret Firmy” business magazine, he said that the U.S. market was “Too complicated” for entrepreneurs that don’t have products or sales in Russia.
Romanenko, who spent six months in Silicon Valley near San Francisco, said that the U.S. venture market is more predictable and does not put pressure on entrepreneurs to turn a profit immediately.
“In Russia, your business will survive only if it proves lucrative in the first few years,” Romanenko said.
Another example of a successful project that comes from Russia is App in the Air, a mobile app that helps users track flights and explore airports.
Coub, a globally known video editor that creates 10-second looped viral video clips, has grown so popular that nobody seems to remember that it was also founded by two Russian entrepreneurs that quickly raised $3.5 million from Russian and U.S. venture funds.
A quick look at one of the best acoustic, folk singer and songwriter Joshua Radin. Joshua Radin was born and raised in Shaker Heights,Ohio, to a Jewish family of Polish, German, Austrian, and Russian background.
Radin turned to music when he moved to New York City, his father bought him a guitar, and he taught himself to play and write music.

The new funding raises Prosper’s valuation to $1.865 billion making it eligible to join the elite club of “Unicorns,” or startups valued at over $1 billion.
The idea is simple: services such as Prosper sidestep traditional bank loans, which can involve complicated applications and lengthy wait times, and connect borrowers and lenders directly online.
Both Prosper and rival Lending Club launched in 2006.
Prosper has issued more than $3 billion in total loans, while Lending Club has facilitated more than twice that amount, to the tune of $7.6 billion.
There’s OnDeck, another company that lends sums of money to small business owners who have a hard time borrowing money from banks, and Fundera, a kind of Kayak for small business loans that shows potential borrowers all of their options on one platform.
In December, both OnDeck and Lending Club saw hugely successful IPOs; OnDeck’s shares rose as much as 40 percent in their market debut, while Lending Club raised over $1 billion in its offering.
Prosper CEO Aaron Vermut says his company is singularly focused on unsecured consumer credit loans-or loans that aren’t protected by any collateral.
In the last quarter, the company facilitated close to $600 million in loans, 200 percent more than the same quarter one year ago, he says.
The economy would have to tank hard before Prosper’s lenders saw real losses, he says.
It’s no coincidence, Vermut says, that many regional banks and asset management groups participated in financing Prosper this time around.
“We’re really good at lending credit to consumers,” he says.
If that’s true, banks are going to want a piece of that action, whether they’re the ones lending the actual money or not.

…yeah, I said but…she told Ben not to fall for her. She said she didn’t believe in love and that they should just be friends. Now, stupid enough Ben knowing he was a ticking time bomb who has suffered so much for years to put his mischievous and evil side in check, let Chinenye’s ideologies get to him. He said he believed that if he agreed to the fact that love was a myth and they were just gonna be ‘friends gone wild’ that she’ll stick with him, he was blindsided. The way the girl changed was like a corrupt Politician after he enters office or like Barry Allen when he changes to Flash. Anyone you pick is cool, as long as you understand me.
Life has its own regrets, most definitely. She stopped visiting him saying she’ll never come to his crib again, started keeping her distance and whenever Ben confronted her she’d say she wasn’t avoiding him. I pitied Ben as he narrated this sad story of his Regrets in the year 2015. I went for my third bottle of Gulder and sat on the kitchen counter.
Now, it had gotten to the point where I was meant to be bored with the whole story but Ben just made mention of her using this line as an excuse for not wanting to date him;”I need a man that would provide security”. Chai! Guys, we don suffer oh! See insult. She no even hide mouth self. Gbowam…she talk am. Guys nah una go understand this one, you know how our ego works.
I got angry at this point as I put myself in Ben’s shoes; a girl tells you not to love her and then strings you on, giving you false hope that contradicted her initial warning and you can’t blame Ben, Chinenye is and will always be the girl of his DREAMS. Did you see how I capitalized the word ‘dreams’? that is because it will always be a dream to him. He will never have her and he is finding it really hard to move on.
As your reading this story Ben has turned to a drunken asshole. He is also looking for job opportunities elsewhere. So, tell me my readers, both male and female, if you were Ben what would you do?
And oh, I forgot, he got a ring from his granny, a family heirloom for the women in the family and gave it as a gift to Chinenye but she bluntly rejected it and now derives pleasure in taunting him by making him jealous with other guys. I ain’t him but I have these regrets in his stead and it is not just because he is my friend but this is injustice to human emotions.

When work and sleep battles, work always wins. There are a lot of advantages to earning more money, but getting a good night’s sleep may not be one of them.
It turns out that, in general, the more money people make, the less they sleep. That’s been true for decades in the United States and in other countries as well. On average, adults earning the highest incomes – around $98,000 for a family of four – sleep 40 minutes less than people in the lowest income families. And among short sleepers; those who are in the bottom 10% of nightly rest – high income people are overrepresented, according to the government survey that sleep researchers trust most. When work and sleep battles, you know that work turns out victorious. Sleeping too little is really bad for your health. Researchers have demonstrated that, for most people, sleeping less than six hours a night results in cognitive impairment. Poor sleep is also associated with a number of other health problems, and an increased risk of dying in a car accident.
In general, the factor that seems the most closely tied with how much sleep people get is how much they work. When work and sleep battles… More hours of work tend to crowd out sleep. People who work two jobs sleep the least of anyone, according to a recent study, and are most likely to be in the bottom 10% of sleepers, sometimes called “short sleepers.” When work and sleep battles it out, the winner remains work.
Consider the Great Recession: Americans slept the most during 2009, 2010 and 2011, when unemployment was high. That probably wasn’t because stress was low or attitudes about sleep were healthier, it was because fewer people were working. Or this fact: Retired people sleep more than working age people, even though the biological need for sleep actually declines in old age.
Mathias Basner, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania’s medical school, who has studied short sleepers.
The major determinant of short sleep is actually Work, people who work a lot of hours, they are much more prone to be short sleepers.
Other activities that appear to be disproportionately displacing the time of short sleepers: commuting, television watching at night and personal grooming in the morning, according to Mr. Basner’s work. If you’re trying to sleep more without cutting back on work hours, Mr. Basner recommends avoiding TV before bed, spending less time getting ready for work and living closer to your workplace.
All of the findings I’ve just described come from a survey called the American Time Use Survey. Government researchers ask a set of Americans to account for every minute of a single day, and the resulting answers give a portrait of how people spend their time. When work and sleep battles…
That the rich sleep less is the dominant theory. Yet a recent analysis from the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention seems to cut against these longstanding findings on sleep. In a chart published some time ago in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, researchers found that people earning less than the federal poverty level were more likely than any other income group to say they slept less than six hours. The striking chart prompted several news articles describing sleep as a “luxury good.”

Anyway, I bumped into my sweetest but craziest friend, Ozy some days back and decided to get to the bottom of the stink issue. You know taking care of down therecan be really easy, that is what I found out after my little chat with Ozy.
She narrated a story of her friend, Lola and I’m kind enough as your generous host to share it with you free of charge, so this was what she said; Taking care of down there is easy. I have a friend Lola and she is usually the life of our clique. She was always active, if we went swimming she’ll be the first to dive into the pool, if any Hamlet (maga) took us out, she will rattle on and on. In fact she was a bombshell. There was something uncertain about her that very evening. Amanda, Toyin and Jacinta were too into the gist of ‘how did you spend your weekend?’ to notice Lola was not Lola. Well, I noticed.
Babe how far na? Wetin?
She wouldn’t even give a hint. She kept on saying,

She bottled up. When we got to our room that night she was still sulking and she refused to pick her bae’s call. I pressed harder and she exploded like one of those IED’s boko haram use in the North,
No matter what, he will never go down there but I always do. He can’t just give me h*ad.
She angrily removed the back of her phone and removed her battery. He was going to call me and he did. Na snub sure pass. Anyway, after much discussion I found out she had a problem and I taught her to wash it well.
Now let’s face it, it is not so easy taking care of down there and our partners, they will always want it fresh and not smelly when they try to eat. No one likes smelly thing, not me and not you. I understood with Lola’s boyfriend but he never told her that was the problem. He never gave her a hint. But I knew, Lola suspected. We took a minute exercise. That went this way;

Meadow, a San Francisco-based startup, allows card-holding medical marijuana patients to browse different types of cannabis from nearby dispensaries and place an order, and within an hour the goods will be delivered to the patient’s door.
If you don’t have a medical marijuana card, you can schedule an in-home consultation with one of the doctors Meadow has partnered with and get a recommendation to use medical cannabis.
Meadow’s main functionality-the purchasing of medical cannabis by licensed patients and the delivery of cannabis by licensed dispensaries-is protected by California’s Proposition 215 and the statute known as SB420.
The app works only in the Bay Area of California, the first state to pass medical cannabis laws, in 1996, although the drug is still illegal under federal law.

Meadow is technically a software company-it does not grow or sell cannabis.
California’s medical cannabis industry, although it’s the oldest in the nation, does not enjoy the same protections and regulations as dispensaries in Colorado do.
Hua attended the Oakland, California-based cannabis college Oaksterdam University, which was founded by cannabis activist Richard Lee in 2007 and offers classes on horticulture, culinary arts, dispensary operations, the history of cannabis and its prohibition, and science and law relating to the plant.
Hua had initially planned to launch an edibles company with his wife, who is a food writer, but after he met Debby Goldsberry, who founded cannabis collective Berkeley Patients Group and is an instructor at Oaksterdam, she told him about the various pain points of running a dispensary and he got a better idea.
“We’re not cultivators, we’re not dispensary owners. We’re good at user interfaces, tech, and we believe we can do the most good in that space because we can get into Y Combinator and pitch venture capitalists who may not have been thinking about cannabis.”
Hua says the company’s next step is to help spread the word and educate people about cannabis.
“That’s why legalization and the legitimization of the industry is so important. When you regulate cannabis, test it, and it’s sold from a store, it makes cannabis safer.”
Now, Meadow will be looking for more investors like the Paxhias-venture capitalists who have a passion for cannabis and its medicinal qualities.
3 ways to Train yourself to be more creative. Creativity isn’t a talent you either have or you don’t, it’s a skill that you can build with these practices.
What makes someone good at their job? Talent or skill?
According to research by Stanford professor, Carol Dweck and her colleagues many people believe that people’s performance reflects either their innate talent for that activity or the amount of work they have done to acquire a skill.
In reality, of course, any performance reflects a combination of talent and skill. You can improve on just about any task with a lot of practice, though if your goal is to be the absolute best in the world at something it is also helpful to have some talent for it. Train yourself to be more creative.
In order to put in the hard work to acquire a skill, you need to believe that the activity really is a skill you can learn. When you believe the activity is a talent then you don’t bother to work hard at it, because you attribute any limitations in your performance to your lack of talent.
RETHINKING CREATIVITY AS A SKILL
Train yourself to be more creative. This way of thinking about talents and skills is particularly important when it comes to thinking about creativity. For skills that involve actions in the world, such as scoring a free kick or playing a musical instrument, people have a pretty good idea of what they need to do to improve. But for mental skills like creativity, few people know enough about the way their minds work to be able to treat it like a skill.
As a result, most people tend to look at those people who develop creative ideas consistently with a kind of reverence. And people who do seem blessed with a talent for creativity live in fear that talent will run out some day and they will be just like everybody else. In order to enhance your creativity, here are three things you can do to practice;
1. Become an Explainer
The most creative people in any field are people who have a tremendous amount of knowledge. Creative people like Einstein, Edison, Coltrane, and O’Keefe were also experts in their own field. In this age of Google, there is a tendency to assume that information is available when you need it and so you don’t need to internalize it. But, if you have to interrupt your flow of work whenever you need to look something up, you can’t follow ideas to new places.
In order to maximize the quality of your knowledge, you have to develop the habit to explain things back to yourself. Think about what happens when you sit down to watch a TED talk. A great speaker gives an inspirational 15-minute presentation. While you are listening, you feel that you have understanding of what the speaker is saying. Afterward, if you try to repeat what you learned to someone else you may realize that you’re feeling of understanding was a reflection that the speaker understood the topic very well. Unless you explain talks like that back to yourself afterwards, though, you have no idea whether you understand it, too. Train yourself to be more creative.
2. Practice Openness
This is the second way to train yourself to be more creative. One of the five core personality dimensions is openness. It reflects how much you are motivated to consider new ideas, concepts, and experiences. The most creative people are typically very open people. If you are someone who resists new ideas and experiences, that does not mean you cannot be creative. It just means that you need to develop a new set of habits to try new ideas on for size rather than rejecting them just because they are new.
If you have to interrupt your flow of work whenever you need to look something up, you can’t follow ideas to new places. Train yourself to be more creative.
If you find yourself unwilling to consider new ideas or dismiss things that are “not the way we do things here,” try this exercise:
When you encounter a new idea, listen to it or read it through, but don’t engage with it much right away. Instead, put it aside for a day and come back to it later. When you read it again, it will feel more familiar based on the mere exposure effect. Mere exposure is the observation that we like things better after we have seen them once before. Let that familiarity help you open yourself up to new prospects. Train yourself to be more creative.
3. Keep Asking New Questions
A third critical aspect of creativity is to remember that any idea you have is something that you pulled out of your memory. That means that when you have a brilliant idea, you retrieved a helpful piece of information from memory and used it.
How do you get information from memory? All you do is to ask your memory a question, and it pulls out information related to that question. If I ask you to think about an ice cream you ate, you do that, even if you did not expect me to start talking about ice cream. Memory serves up experiences related to the questions you ask it. Train yourself to be more creative.
That means that whenever you want to think about a problem or situation differently, you have to ask your memory a different question. The most creative people don’t settle on a single way to think about a problem. Instead, they keep finding new descriptions of that problem and allowing their memory to find more information that might help to solve it. The more different questions they ask, the more creative ideas they have.
As an easy exercise to practice asking questions, think about a problem you are trying to solve right now. Now, ask yourself how a variety of your friends would approach that same problem. Imagine a person from another country encountering your problem. Would they take a different perspective? Use the lenses of different people as a way of training yourself to describe a problem in different ways.
Allow each of these perspectives to bring new information to mind that might help you solve the problem you face.
Bright Okpocha .a.k.a. BasketMouth is a Nigerian comedian and actor who has organized popular stand-up comedy concerts like ‘BasketMouth Uncensored‘ across the globe.
HIS EARLY LIFE
Bright Okpocha was born on September 14, 1978 in Lagos, Nigeria but hails from Abia State. He completed his primary and secondary school education in Apapa, Lagos State and then moved on to pursue a degree at the University Of Benin, Benin City (UNIBEN) where he studied sociology and anthropology with his brother, Godwin Okpocha.
HIS CAREER
In 1991 BasketMouth discovered his skills in drumming, which he did for over 5 years afterwards. During his days of being an instrumentalist for his church and a band at that point, he also discovered his skills in rap music and later diverted into that path in 1994. In 1995, he, his friends and brother formed a group called ‘da psychopaths’. It had 7 members but they split before they could even release an album or single. Bright and his brother Godwin immediately formed a group called ‘D Oddz’ and later added a third member, Muyiwa Osunrobi. Together, they did a couple of shows but couldn’t break through the music industry as their brand of rap wasn’t accepted then.
His 1st stand-up comedy was a disaster because the crowd got irritated and booed him off the stage. Later that year (1999), he came back after a series of research on what brand of comedy could sell in UNIBEN; that was the beginning of Basket mouth’s inception into the world of stand-up comedy. His professional stand-up act came into existence in the year 2001 and his big break came when he met Ali Baba.
Basketmouth got involved in events management alongside his comedy acts. He and his friend, Bayo Adekeye promoted and packaged shows that featured the likes of Plantation Boiz, Remedies, and a host of other artistes. It was during that period that Laff n Jamz was conceptualized. On the 1st of November 2000, the concept came to reality featuring Ali Baba, Paul Play, Teju Babyface, Mandy, Mr Patrick and a host of others.
Immediately after Laff n Jamz in UNIBEN, Ali Baba told Basketmouth to come down to Lagos to expose his skills. It was hard to combine studies and stand-up comedy but it was done. After Basketmouth featured Plantation Boiz in 2000, they asked him to anchor a monthly show that was held at the Den in Ikeja. It was during that period that Basketmouth impacted the entertainment industry in Lagos. Things got bigger and better when Basketmouth was invited by Tequila events to perform alongside Julius Agwu on a tour that hit over 30 higher institutions around Nigeria. Basketmouth’s emergence in Lagos can be traced back to the year in 2000 when he performed at a concert called Hanging with the Home boys; his performance wowed the audience and he won their acceptance. He extended his act to the monthly motherland concert hosted by Lagbaja.
Afterwards, Ali Baba introduced him to Opa Williams who then featured him in the now most popular comedy show in Nigeria and beyond (Nite of a 1000 laughs). The name, BASKETMOUTH hit the big screen when he featured in international concerts that witnessed the likes of Joe, Boys2Men, Sean Paul, Beyonce, Wyclef Jean, Dru Hill, Akon, Snoop Dogg, Ciara, Chris Brown and many others. His international gig was in Europe (2003) after which he stayed off the foreign scene until his debut performance in Atlanta at the Nigerian Reunion in 2006. This performance led to series of performances and bookings in the United States and other countries including South Africa.
Back to back through the last 4 years, BasketMouth has won the National Comedy Award for Best Comedian of the year, Best Stand-up Comedian on the year (2005/6). As a follow-up to the growth, he formed a company called Humor Unlimited (2004), Devils kiss (Stage play), 2004, and in 2006 took it higher by forming a one man stand-up comedy show which made history in Nigeria [BasketMouth Uncensored 1,2,&3]. He later established a consulting/event & Artist management company (Barons World Entertainment) in 2006. Basket Mouth is currently one of the brand ambassadors of one of the leading telecommunications companies in Africa (Globacom).
He got married in 2010 to Elsie Uzoma and has been blessed with two kids, a boy and a girl.
In an interview with City People, the crazy man claimed that deep down he is a shy person, and that BasketMouth is a personality he created to overcome his shyness. He said,
I am a very shy person, most people don’t know that. My son is extremely shy, and my friends are like how can your son be so shy and you are like this. I always tell them to forget about what they see. Basket Mouth is a character I created, the real me is a very shy person.

Chukia Edozien a.k.a Lynxxx is a Nigerian hip-hop artist and entrepreneur. He was born on November 24.
Early Life
Lynxxx is the only son of the former deputy governor; Chief John D. Edozien. He attended his primary education in Corona Primary School, Ikoyi, Lagos and his secondary education in Kings College Lagos, Lynxxx obtained a degree in Business, Economic and Marketing at the University of Hull in the United Kingdom.
Music Career
He has always been interested in music, he started writing music in 1997 and his first time in a studio was at the Even Ezra Studio in 1998. In 2004, Lynxxx and his colleague started their own record label Syndik8 after they were rejected by other record labels. He choose the stage name ‘’Lynxxx’’ which he coined from the word link because he connect people with whatever they needed in high school. His music career kicked off in December 2009, when he released his first official single “Change Your Parade” which was produced by Ikon, his partner and Syndik8 in-house producer. ‘’Change Your Parade’’ got really good airplays and skyrocketed Lynxxx’s career. In an interview with Punch, he explained the reason why he studied specific courses in school and went into music afterwards:
Music has always been a passion of mine, so it was only a matter of time and faith before I took it up as a profession. By design, I studied specific courses in school in order to prepare myself for life as a musician. I studied business to learn the ropes of setting up and operating a business, economics to manage my finances and marketing so as to become skilled at selling my brand. As a youth, I repeatedly disturbed my household whenever I played loud music so I guess my decision to take to music did not come as a surprise to members of my family.
In December 2010 Lynxxx released his debut studio album ‘This is Lynxxx’. The album boasts a rich combination of different musical genres from Urban Hip hop to contemporary RnB and infusions of Funkyhouse. This combination of diverse styles has been fondly dubbed “Jollof music” by Lynxxx i.e. the art of blending various genres to make good music. In 2010 Lynxxx got endorsed by Pepsi, this set in motion his dream to become a global ambassador for Nigerian music.

Other than his musical career Lynxxx is also an entrepreneur. He established various lucrative businesses prior to the launch of his musical career. Recently, JP Morgan Chase & Co. issued its annual letter to shareholders, in which Jamie Dimon, the company’s CEO, spoke about Silicon Valley’s startups as new rivals that are “Looking to compete with banks.”
It seems that one of the most powerful banks of the U.S. is worried about Silicon Valley’s startups. JP Morgan
“Silicon Valley is coming,” warns Dimon in 2014 report issued this week by JP Morgan Chase & Co. “There are hundreds of startups with a lot of brains and money working on various alternatives to traditional banking.The ones you read about most are in the lending business, whereby the firms can lend to individuals and small businesses very quickly and – these entities believe – effectively by using Big Data to enhance credit underwriting.”
As far as the fintech world is developing fast, lots of brand-new startups try to play against banks offering services that are usually provided by the second ones.

PayPal, an online payment processing company owned by eBay Inc., announces that merchants registered with the company may now accept payments in bitcoin.

“Some companies have flocked to New York’s technology centric Midtown South market to drive recruitment and get back to the innovative culture that originally made them great,” says Michael Higgins, a senior vice president with real estate brokerage giant JLL. The old Jehovah’s Witnesses headquarters, known as the Watchtower, this year sold for $375 million for the 1.4 million square foot complex that serves tech companies.
Vice Media got a $6.5 million tax break for opting to move into new South Williamsburg digs.
New York City-based Thrive Capital pumped $40 million into Manhattan-based Urban Compass, a marketplace to buy, sell and rent apartments.

Emma Nyra has released several hit tracks; in 2015 she collaborated with Cynthia Morgan and Victoria Kimani on the song Vex to validate their star statues.

Philippine Entrepreneurs Blossom With Help From Startup Support Network
The Philippines, officially known as the Republic of the Philippines, is a sovereign island country in Southeast Asia situated in the western Pacific Ocean
MANILA- Aisa Mijeno had her “Eureka” moment one day in a remote village in the Cordillera Mountains of the Philippines’ northern Luzon province.
Ms. Mijeno’s SALt Corp.-short for Sustainable Alternative Lighting-is one of a number of promising Philippine startups, many of which address the everyday challenges of people in developing countries.
“The Philippines can become a leader in using technology to address emerging-market problems,” said Earl Valencia, president and founder of the IdeaSpace Foundation, a Manila-based incubator that has helped back Ms. Mijeno’s lamp.
The Philippines simply didn’t have a startup scene.
The turning point came in 2012; when two Philippine telecommunication companies set up incubators-organizations that foster startups-to breathe life into Manila’s technology sector.
Smart Communications, a subsidiary of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co., founded the nonprofit IdeaSpace.
Ms. Navarrete said Philippine tech is poised for its first big breakthrough.
Philippine startups faced a lonely struggle for survival, as they lacked California’s refined ecosystem of investors, venture capitalists, cheerleaders and incubators, 32-year-old Mr. Rivera said.
Kalibrr received $100,000 from Kickstart for a 4% stake and then became the first Philippine company to participate in the prestigious Y Combinator incubator and investor program in Silicon Valley, raising $1.6 million in second-round funding.
Now, with venture capitalists from Japan, Singapore and the U.S. eyeing Philippine tech companies, expectations of local entrepreneurs are higher than ever, Mr. Rivera said.
Alongside Filipino returnees in Manila’s cosmopolitan tech community are foreign entrepreneurs who aim to use the youthful, tech-savvy and English-speaking Philippines as a springboard to jump into other emerging markets like India and Indonesia.
Among the Manila-based, foreigner-led startups following this playbook are Lenddo, which uses social media to build credit scores for people with no credit history-in the Philippines, about 80% of people don’t have bank accounts- enabling them to get bank loans for the first time.
Then there is mClinica, which provides discounts on medicine via a network of 1,500 Philippine pharmacies, while gathering market data for drug companies.
